The latest in urban barabarism comes to us from St. Louis (via Federale). This “game” has apparently been around since 2008 or so, but has made the news again after a particularly brutal attack which left a 72 year-old Vietnamese man dead and his wife injured.
The “game” is simple. A vulnerable individual is spotted and then, according to what retired St Louis police sargent Don Pizzo told KMOX, the local CBS affiliate it begins:
“Normally it was a group of black males, one of which would strike him as hard as he could in the face, attempting to knock him out with one punch,” Pizzo said. The attacks fit a pattern, Pizzo recalls, black attackers on a white victim — and the victim was often an older person walking alone.
Also known as “Knock Out King” the game has shown up as far away as Jersey City, NJ. A particularly brutal 2009 occurence in Columbia, MO was captured on surveillance video. (Not for the faint of heart.)
Looking at the bright side though, this hasn’t yet made it to California (yet)!
